25 Years of Reliable Compressed Air at Adbri

25 Years of Reliable Compressed Air at Adbri

In an industrial environment where compressed air is critical to production, equipment reliability is measured over years — not months.

At Adbri’s Birkenhead facility in South Australia, three KAESER DSD 201 compressors commissioned by Mobile Compressed Air in 2001 are still operating more than 25 years later.

Built for a demanding cement environment

The compressors operate within the cement mill, where extremely fine and abrasive cement dust creates a particularly harsh environment for industrial equipment. The compressed air system also needs to support continuous plant operations, making dependable performance and uptime essential.

Three KAESER DSD 201 compressors were selected for the application, with KAESER’s reputation for reliability in demanding operating conditions a key consideration.

More than 200,000 operating hours

Since being commissioned in 2001, the three compressors have accumulated more than 200,000 operating hours.

Throughout that time, Mobile Compressed Air has continued to provide regular preventative maintenance to help keep the compressors operating reliably and minimise the risk of unexpected downtime.

For equipment operating 24/7 in a cement production environment, reaching this level of service life highlights the value of combining quality equipment with consistent long-term maintenance.

The value of preventative maintenance

Industrial compressors are long-term assets, particularly when they support production-critical applications. While equipment selection is important, ongoing servicing also plays a major role in protecting reliability and extending operating life.

Regular preventative maintenance allows potential issues to be identified early, helps keep equipment operating as intended and reduces the likelihood of unplanned failures.

The Adbri installation demonstrates what this approach can achieve: proven KAESER compressor technology supported throughout its operating life by the Mobile Compressed Air service team.

After more than 25 years, the compressors remain reliable assets for the plant, with Adbri continuing to see value in the combination of KAESER equipment and Mobile Compressed Air’s ongoing support.

Supporting compressed air systems for the long term

Mobile Compressed Air works with industrial customers across South Australia to support compressed air equipment throughout its complete lifecycle — from equipment selection and commissioning through to preventative maintenance and ongoing service.

The Adbri installation is a strong example of what long-term equipment support can look like.

Three compressors. More than 200,000 operating hours. Over 25 years in one of the toughest industrial environments.

And they’re still working.
